Fourth Star for the Vets

The Ramblers Vets won 1-0 in Pollensa, bringing up their fourth victory in 26 games in Mallorca and their first clean sheet. Mike Bagley scored from close range after a well-worked move with half an hour left in the game. Despite some tense defending in the final ten minutes, the Ramblers team held on to secure a hard-fought victory. 

The celebrations went long into the night after another superb meal at La Llonja. Our warmest thanks go to our hosts for once more hosting the event with the greatest generousity.

Shrewsbury School 2013

For the 50th year in a row, Liverpool Ramblers took 5 teams to play Shrewsbury on Saturday the 7th September 2013. In an unusually good day for the visitors, the 1st XI won 1-0, the 2nd XI won 3-1, the 3rd XI won 3-1 and the Vets drew 1-1. Only the 4th XI let the side down, losing 5-3 in an entertaining game.

After the match we were delighted to present the school with two copies of Jo Russell’s “Liverpool Ramblers AFC, the Complete History”. Frost prevented the first game between the school and the Ramblers on the 9th December 1882, but the fixture was fulfilled on the 28th March 1883.

Unfortunately two Ramblers playing in the 3rd XI game ended up in hospital; Matt Pochin injured his knee and, rather more seriously, Phil Morley broke his ankle. Both are wished a speedy recovery, especially Phil who will undergo an operation this week. 

Liverpool Ramblers AFC - The Complete History

Liverpool Ramblers are pleased to announce the publication of Jo Russell’s magnificent book which chronicles the Club from 1882 to the present day. The book was launched at the Club at President’s Day on Saturday the 31st August 2013, a day which will be remembered as one of the most successful and enjoyable in the history of the Club.

President's Day & Book Launch

President’s Day this year coincides with the launch of Jo Russell’s book “Liverpool Ramblers AFC  -The Complete History”. 

The timetable for the day is:

2.30pm: Inter-Club games kick off

5.30pm: Book Launch and Presentations

5.45pm: Food and Drink
